The Middle East Protests and the Depiction of Muhammad

By now you probably have heard about the fiasco developing in the Middle East regarding muslim protests against a movie that "insults Islam". If you have not I will spare you the work yourself with a quick rundown. Basically, some low budget film  called "Innocence of Muslims" created by an Egyptian U.S. citizen depicts their precious Prophet Muhammed as some big player who likes to molest children and as a result, nearly every freaking country in the Middle East is having an oversized period.

That might sound a tad bit subjective (probably really subjective), but I'll explain why I go into such extremes. First of all, I'd like to say that they are greatly overreacting. These extreme Muslims are just too sensitive about the issue about portraying Mohammed. I mean come on, who gets so pissed off about a person, even if he is a god, being shown on a movie that they actually feel the need to kill people? It's ridiculous that religion has come to point where people start riots and start murdering people in the name of their belief! Maybe I should create a religion where no one shall depict Batman and when they do I'll start going on a murderous rampage. Oh yeah, and then I'll make a book about my religion so everybody will believe it. Too a degree, I find it hilarious that something so violent can be produced by something so harmless. But generally, it's tragic, pathetic, and ridiculous that anything like this has happened, especially when an innocent person gets killed. Honestly, I do not know what the film is about, but even past controversial movies are harmless. Even if it was about how Muhammed was the equivalent of Satan, nothing should bring amuck stupid violent protests like this.

And like I said in my previous post about religion, the way religion works is extremely ridiculous! Granted my last post was mainly about Christianity, but most of the messages I spoke of reign true in all religions. And in my opinion, the religious problem is accelerating at unacceptable rates in the Muslim faith. Under all the extremist bullshit it's actually a great religion. However, since groups such as the Taliban and leaders like Sheik Hassan Nasrallah organizing violent protests and riots over something so trivial, Islam has become one of the lesser (if not the least) liked religions of the world. One does not see Christians or Buddhists starting holy wars and violent uprisings that nobody else cares about. Those days are long gone. Remember the Crusades? Yeah, thousands of years ago and while the rest of the world is done with the extreme ways to spread and protect their religion, Islam is still trying to start wars. Now I know I may be getting too harsh about Islam but I have nothing against the its true doctrines. I have numerous of Muslim friends and they fit in with everybody else. They do not start a fight when Muhammed is shown or kill a man who has nothing to do with it.

"We should not only express our anger at an American embassy here or there. We should tell our rulers in the Arab and Muslim world that it is 'your responsibility in the first place' and since you officially represent the governments and states of the Muslim world you should impose on the United States, Europe and the whole world that our prophet, our Quran and our holy places and honor of our Prophet be respected"
-Sheik Hassan Nasrallah

That brings me to this point: these protests are really going against a government that has almost nothing to do with the movie. Yes, the United States is not going to take down the video because of free speech but other than that, the U.S. is not behind the video. One can start peaceful protests. One can blame the guy who made the video. But an individual cannot blame a whole country for it. Additionally, these protesters killed four Americans, so should America start riots against the Middle East for killing our U.S. ambassadors? No. Because frankly, United States citizens have more important things to do with their lives than start violent riots over something they will not be able to change. They protest things that actually matter (according to the population), like the wealth distribution as shown by the Occupy Movement. They do not do silly things like kill people over a guy showing up on a TV.

I now have another reason to prove that religion sucks. The people are making religion a word that people frown when they hear. The meaning behind it should be making people happy but society has turned everything good about loving a god or some spiritual being into complete shit. Take what you want from my opinion. Hate it. Love it. Ignore it. But it's time to call out the wrong in our society. I encourage everyone to rise above conformity and become an example for society, because these Middle Eastern protesters definitely are not.

Good day.
